Jean Castonguay – Principal

Corporate Lawyer, Mediator and Entrepreneur

During his 35+ year career as a corporate lawyer and as an entrepreneur, Jean has managed (as principal and managing partner) international corporate law and business consulting practices focused on strategic innovation and growth, corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate structures, corporate governance, and commercial transactions, specialising in licensing and strategic partnership agreements. Jean is currently the principal at the law firm of Castonguay Legal Inc.

For the past 25+ years, he has held senior management positions in start-up and high-growth companies spanning the Life Sciences, MedTech, Technology and Manufacturing sectors and has raised over $100M in investment funding for the multiple start up projects where Jean has assumed strategy and leadership roles. As an entrepreneur, Jean received awards for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer from the public to the private sector. Since 2022, has been an accomplished mentor working with startups and incubator platforms recognised by Investissement Quebec.

In 2024, Jean was invited to complete a certification in mediation with the Barreau du Quebec. He has taken this opportunity to apply his wealth of knowledge about the corporate and legal world and has developed a unique brand of effective mediation and conflict resolution skills. His unique skill set and perspective allows him to tackle even the most convoluted high level mediation cases from a fair and impartial standpoint. His real life experience in the business world allow him to approach any conflict with a realistic perspective of potential points of contention between parties, whether it be larger corporate clients or workplace disputes. Jean excels at determining people’s needs and enjoys working toward a satisfactory outcome for all.
